Unfortunately Blogger was having issues today, so one reader emailed me directly and mentioned a great point.  Although from 0 to 10 years old, kids should be just having fun, it seems that nowadays childhood is ending way before age 10.  There are definitely many factors affecting kids nowadays.  Some factors are that there is SO MUCH PRESSURE not only from peers but also from parents.  These days, maybe not all kids can be kids.  I have to agree with this reader when she said that sometimes she sees 8 or 9 years who look like teenagers.  Goodness, sometimes I see 5 year olds dressing like teenagers!

So to followup on this Monday’s decades post, I’m interested, What do YOU think the best decade in life is? Any of your comments are welcome as we will be traveling through each decade in the coming months!

  1. A survey that I read about indicated that generally people are happy between the ages of 55 to 65. Reason is that they feel they've accomplished in terms of family life and career. I'm still in limbo now at age 42…

  2. I really do wonder what decade will be the best. I'm enjoying life now, but will be extremely pleased if at 55 I'm enjoying life even more! At first thought, I really thought I'd want to be a kid again… until I started really thinking about it! Thanks Linah.

  3. A friend now about to celebrate her 93rd Birthday was asked this question once when appearing before a group of high school students. Her answer was the 50's. Her reasoning — By then, you've probably got your kids over the terrible teens and on their way to adulthood. You're probably at the top of your game professionally but you no longer are trying desperately to claw your way further up the ladder.

Since I got sober and came to terms with my sexual orientation at age 49, I have added reasons to vote for the fifties!

  4. I vote for 60's. I am now 61, I love it. Just retired !! still very energetic. get to go to K class picnics, graduation and get to know young moms of her little class mates. Basically enjoy young kids again without the burden 24 hours care !! I get to be friends with young moms.keep me “young at heart” I love it. you know who I am !!
